For this project, I wanted to focus on the breaking of the perceived realities and what the viewer is supposed to see and isn’t supposed to see. A lot of the “hidden files” used charNG and N+7 to distort the text to a point where it was unrecognizable, as if the facade was breaking. The hidden links are meant to be found and show what the author’s intrusive thoughts actually are. I used Otter to speak all the legible text on the pages. I wanted the text to be brief since I didn’t want the reader to get lost in the stories of Pinocchio, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. I also used the anagram generator specifically with Pinnochio’s dummy text to relate it back a bit more as well. For the title of the piece, I used Botnik to come up with “The only thing separating us is the pain of the world”, using the romantic filter. I liked the flowery poetic language it had. For the oblique strategy cards, the first one I used was “In total darkness, or in a very large room, very quietly”. I took it as I wanted to keep people in the dark, almost keep them confused for a little while so they can piece together the story. The next card was “reverse”, which I used as a way to trek back and look at what I had at certain points, to add more where is needed and take away what wasn’t. The last card was “Is there something missing?” I pulled this card at the end and it was good to look back on everything I’ve done and think about the finer details and find what is really important.
